Newport’s Managing Director for Nashville has published an article in the Second Quarter issue of Directors & Boards Magazine. Mike Kipp’s piece, Directors’ Dialogue May Need A Reboot, discusses the respective roles of the CEO and Board.
He emphasizes that - along with monitoring performance, risk management and compliance - a Board has a fundamental role to resolve questions of corporate identity and direction. In the article Mike makes a case that Boards must deploy three tools: a philosophy that the board and CEO are a team; a set of common tools for talking; and leadership.
Mike is a director of Atlas Bank, Hope International Capital Corp., and several privately owned companies. He is a former director of American Home Bank. He has written widely about management especially governance. Contact or learn more about Mike here.
