Newport Partner Irene Helsinger Designated One of Houston’s 50 Most Influential Women of 2012
Newport Board Group partner Irene Helsinger has been selected as one of Houston’s 50 Most Influential Women of 2012 by Houston Woman magazine.
According to Beverly Denver, publisher of Houston Woman Magazine, “Those selected as Houston’s 50 Most Influential Women of 2012 are individuals with vast networks of social and professional connections. They have earned an enviable reputation for possessing an expertise in a particular field or arena. They are considered knowledgeable, credible and trustworthy. The thoughts and actions of these women influence the thoughts and actions of others. It is our distinct privilege to be able to introduce these remarkable women to the community.”
An Afternoon Tea, co-hosted by Houston Woman Magazine and Chevron, was held on Sunday, Jan. 6 at the St. Regis Hotel to honor Irene and the other honorees.
Irene was a senior executive in one of the nation’s leading healthcare systems, St. Luke’s Episcopal Health System, for over 20 years. In that time Irene rose to senior positions in Human Resources and then to Chief Administrative Officer and ultimately Chief Operating officer. At St. Luke’s she was responsible for achievements in human capital planning, cultural transformation, organizational design, productivity improvement, talent development, building employee engagement, total rewards programs and startup operations. As COO of the Texas Heart Institute, a St. Luke’s unit, Irene was involved in design and development of a wide variety of systems to deliver the Institute’s services. She worked with other major healthcare institutions to establish a Health Village in Abu Dhabi. Irene also had extensive experience as a member of a number of St. Luke’s-related boards and was Chairman of the Board of its Sugar Land Hospital Partnership.
