Newport Board Group Joins Thirty Percent Coalition to Support Women in Business
Strong support for public company board gender diversity initiative voiced by CEO Doug Payne
Newport Board Group, the national professional services firm of CEOs and senior executives, has announced that it is joining the Thirty Percent Coalition.
As explained on the Coalition’s website, the Thirty Percent Coalition is a "national organization of over 70 members committed to the goal of women holding 30% of board seats across public companies by the end of 2015. Founded in late 2011, the Coalition includes senior business executives, national women's organizations, institutional investors, corporate governance experts and board members for the first time working together to drive the pace of change."
Newport Board Group CEO Doug Payne commented: "Newport is proud to join this important initiative. We see the Thirty Percent Coalition as both an important step forward for women in business and as a way for Newport to help drive the success of its growing number of women partners, who have impressive accomplishments as business and civic leaders. Our firm looks forward to playing a prominent role in the Coalition’s important work. For our part, Newport has committed that, as our board grows along with our company, the next director appointed to our board will be a woman.”
