Helen Bulwik to Kick Off NACD Northern California's event on: Crisis Leadership for Chairs of Boards and Committees Helen Bulwik, a Partner in our Northern California practice will be one of the main speakers at an National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) event next Thursday, October 22nd in San Francisco. She will be part of an interactive session focusing on crisis management. Through the speakers experiences and Q&A by attendees this session will teach you how to respond effectively when your organization is confronted with a crisis.

Strong support for public company board gender diversity initiative voiced by CEO Doug Payne Newport Board Group, the national professional services firm of CEOs and senior executives, has announced that it is joining the Thirty Percent Coalition.

Laura Bingham, Newport Board Group Carolinas Partner, will be one of the top women executives in the NC Research Triangle featured for a Meet Your Mentor Event sponsored by the Triangle Business Journal.

Newport Board Group Carolinas Partner, Laura Bingham, will be addressing the annual Assembly of Bank Directors of the North Carolina Bankers Association several times this Spring. On March 4th, she spoke about reputation capital, which is much different than the capital often discussed by bankers. On April 30th, she will be moderating a panel of the four top women bankers in North and South Carolina, during their Women in Banking conference. Laura will draw on her private and not-for-profit sector background to direct these discussions. The North Carolina Bankers Association provides educational and training programs, media relations, insurance benefits programs, regulatory and compliance assistance, and other services to its member financial institutions. It also operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Community Investment Corporation of the Carolinas, which provides long-term, low-cost financing for low to moderate income multi-family developments in the state.

Colleen Brown, Newport Managing Director for the Pacific Northwest, will be participating in a leadership forum on Monday, February 24th at the Four Seasons Hotel in Seattle. Along with two other top CEOs, Colleen will be sharing her path to success, her motivations along the way, unique challenges she faced as a female executive and her overall perspectives on leadership.

Carolinas’ Partner Laura Bingham will facilitate a discussion, January 22, in Raleigh on Sheryl Sandberg's book Lean In, a #1 national best seller. Sandberg, COO of Facebook, uses personal anecdotes and research findings to make her case that “our revolution has stalled,” offering advice on how women can achieve their full potential. A TEDTalk in 2010 sparked the debate around Sandberg’s call for women to ‘lean in’ and ‘get rid of’ internal barriers which can work against success. In Lean In she asserts that there is a “leadership ambition gap” among women in the workplace that must be closed for power structures to change.
