Newport Board Group's, Laura Bingham, will be participating in an invitation-only event for National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), March 18, in New York. This program will be a highly-interactive, half-day symposium of NACD Directorship 2020™. This is a multi-year initiative designed to help directors and boards understand, define and prepare for emerging issues, coming challenges and opportunities that will affect the boardroom in the next decade. Laura earned NACD’s Director Professionalism in 2012 and then its Governance Fellow designation in 2013. In her role with Newport and in various business and civic groups she continues to assist in educating on these topics.

Carolina's Partner, John Farrall, will be facilitating a Sales Roundtable - “How to Make Your Customers Stick to You like Glue!” sponsored by the Greenville Chamber of Commerce in Greenville, S.C. on March 19th. These monthly forums are designed to share experiences, develop best practices and fortify skills to improve productivity. Sales professionals and local businessmen regularly participate in this event. Newport Board Group is a unique national business advisory firm that works with middle market companies making the transition across No Man’s Land (where a company is too big to be small but too small to be big) to get to their next level of growth.

Newport Board Group Carolinas Partner, Laura Bingham, will be addressing the annual Assembly of Bank Directors of the North Carolina Bankers Association several times this Spring. On March 4th, she spoke about reputation capital, which is much different than the capital often discussed by bankers. On April 30th, she will be moderating a panel of the four top women bankers in North and South Carolina, during their Women in Banking conference. Laura will draw on her private and not-for-profit sector background to direct these discussions. The North Carolina Bankers Association provides educational and training programs, media relations, insurance benefits programs, regulatory and compliance assistance, and other services to its member financial institutions. It also operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Community Investment Corporation of the Carolinas, which provides long-term, low-cost financing for low to moderate income multi-family developments in the state.

Colleen Brown, Newport Managing Director for the Pacific Northwest, will be participating in a leadership forum on Monday, February 24th at the Four Seasons Hotel in Seattle. Along with two other top CEOs, Colleen will be sharing her path to success, her motivations along the way, unique challenges she faced as a female executive and her overall perspectives on leadership.

Doug Tatum, Newport Board Group Chairman, will be the keynote speaker at the Association for Corporate Growth’s Central Texas lunch in Austin this coming Wednesday, February 12th. He will be speaking on “The US Middle Market – The New Normal”. Doug will provide an update on the structural change in the US middle market and the implications of those changes to the Investment Banking, Accounting, Legal and Private Equity industries. Doug will be presenting research and data from the Institute for Exceptional Growth Companies (IEGC), a national research institute funded by the NASDAQ Foundation and the Edward Lowe Foundation, where he serves as the Advisory Board Chairman.

Helen Bulwik, partner in Newport’s Northern California practice, will be participating in a Family Business Forum addressing how to foster innovation on Thursday, January 30th in San Francisco. The forum will address how family businesses can create a culture of innovation to improve productivity, profitability and growth. Helen along with other panelists will share lessons learned from large family business such as Estee Lauder and Molson Coors. Additional topics which will be addressed are how founders can facilitate and get in the way of change, when to bring in outside advisors, how to motivate employees, ways to bridge family generations, and how fostering innovation in family businesses differs from non-family businesses.
